Students, teachers, and parents all greatly enjoy our school's Book Fair, which takes place each fall in the Media Center. Our Scholastic Book Fair is a week-long event, so we always need plenty of volunteers to ensure that the fair runs smoothly. Volunteer duties include helping young students complete their wish lists, finding books for kids, working the registers, organizing inventory, and simply offering a helping hand.
*All volunteers for any school event must complete the MCPS child abuse and neglect training prior to volunteering in the school. This online training is good for three years.*

Our annual movie night is another fan favorite! Singer's movie night takes place on the field next to the Flora Singer playground. Families can bring blankets, chairs, snacks, flashlights, etc. to enjoy an outdoor screening of a kid-friendly movie that begins once the sun goes down. The PTA has concessions for sale and there's usually an ice cream truck with treats for purchase as well.
Before and after school activities are a great way for children to continue learning outside of school hours through engaging activities! Activities vary each session, but past examples include: tennis, chess, art, Spanish, debate, musical theater, science, karate, soccer, dance, and more!
To help streamline the registration process, the PTA works with Kiddo, an online platform that organizes registration for all activities in a single website. Please check out the Kiddo link for more information about before and after school activities offered at Flora M. Singer!
Scholarships are available for students. For more information about scholarships, please contact Mrs. Kimberly Kincaid at Kimberly_E_Kincaid@mcpsmd.org.

The Singer community gets to show off its vibrant colors at this beloved annual event! Families set up tables representing different countries with artifacts and decorative items, books, games, food samples, traditional clothing, music, etc. Performers provide entertainment to showcase their heritage, and kids get a ‘passport’ as they ‘travel’ around the world, going from table to table to learn about all the amazing countries and cultures represented at our school!

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Fair is a fun, non-competitive weekend event open to all students held each spring. Students work at home on a STEM project of their choice, then create a display board to share their project with the school community. Our goal is to encourage exploration and discovery and promote a deep lifelong passion for science and technology. Each participant will have an opportunity to briefly present their project to an expert and receive a participation prize + t-shirt. Science demonstrations, snacks, and giveaways for attendees round out the morning! The PTA provides tri-fold display boards for all STEM fair participants.
